METHOD STATEMENT FOR SBT PARALLEL THREADED COUPLERS

SBT Coupler is a parallel threaded system for reinforcing bars dia 16mm to 40mm dia. They produce full strength joint in the rebar connection

The ends of the reinforcing bar to be jointed are cut square and then enlarged by cold forging process to increase their core diameter to ensure that the joint is stronger than bar

The couplers are usually supplied attached to the reinforcing bars.

METHOD STATEMENT FOR SBT PRESSING COUPLERS

1. Remove the unnecessary attachments on the ends of the reinforcing Bars before extrusion such as rust, dirt and mortar .

2. The ends of the reinforcing bar should be straight

3. Mark the reinforcing bar with half of the couplers length

4. Insert the reinforcing bar up to the mark and press using special Hydraulic pressing machine with suitable moulds

5 .Then insert the second rebar into the other half of the coupler and press

REBAR SPLICING PROCESS WITH SBT COUPLERS

The end of the reinforcing bars to be jointed is sawn cut

The sawn cut ends of the reinforcing bar is then enlarged by cold forging process to increase its core diameter

Standard metric thread is then cut onto the enlarged end.

Finally, splice the rebar by using SBT parallel threaded couplers

TYPE A (WHEN THE CONNECTING BAR IS ROTATABLE)

When the connecting bar can be rotated, then end of the bars are threaded for half the length of coupler

After threading, rotate the connecting rebar to the initially screwed coupler, to the starter rebar to fully engage the coupler

TYPE B (WHEN THE BOTH BARS ARE NOT ROTATABLE)

Even when both bars are not rotatable, then starter bar is threaded for the full coupler length to screw coupler onto the extended threads. (But the connecting bar is threaded for half length of the coupler only)

Then complete assembly by butting the bars end to end and screw coupler onto the connecting rebar
